Although not immediately relevant to my research I read a very interesting essay by George Orwell entitled “Politics and the English Language”. I came across the essay on a Blog, discussing the demise of modern written English. Writing in 1946, Orwell decries what he sees is the demise and “bad habits of Modern English”.
