Wow – I have finally started my PhD. First port of call is to meet with the course administrator to sign paperwork and be shown my desk. Next, is a meeting with my director of studies. My objectives for the next few days are to get my bearings. I am handed the Research Students Handbook – hmm, telephone directory comes to mind. Last meeting for the day is library induction. I am filled with trepidation later in the day as I read through the Research Students Handbook – what have I let myself into?
